Reverend Dr. Nathaniel J. Wood is a native of York, Pennsylvania where he was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a graduate of William Penn Senior High School. Dr. Wood was Licensed to the Ministry in January 1976 by Shiloh Baptist Church and ordained in May 1981 by the Central Baptist Association of the Pennsylvania Baptist State Convention.


Relative to his divine calling, Dr. Wood is committed and continues ongoing study of theology, religion, philosophy and the Bible:


Carolina Bible College, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Associates Degree in Biblical Studies; Shaw University, Raleigh North Carolina, Major: Religion and Philosophy; Florida Bible College, Hollywood, Florida, Major: Bible; Manna Bible Institute, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Major: Theology; Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Georgia Major: Bachelor’s Degree in Theology; Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Georgia, Major: Candidate for Masters of Theology; St. Thomas Christian College, Jacksonville, Florida, Conferred: Honorary Doctorate of Divinity Degree.


Called, Licensed, and Ordained, Rev. Wood served:

Served as the assistant to the late Rev. Dr. R.J. Manning at Shiloh Baptist Church at York, Pennsylvania; Assistant Pastor to Rev. Dr. J. L. Morgan, First Calvary Baptist Church, Sanford, North Carolina; Pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Moncure, North Carolina; Currently Dr. Wood has been the Pastor of New Providence Missionary Baptist Church, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina for the past twenty years. He has brought to the church a commitment to the pursuit of excellence to the practice of holistic ministry and a visionary passion for kingdom building.

Theological Fraternity, Shaw University; 4th Vice-Moderator of the Wake Missionary Baptist Association; Member of Board of Adjustment for the Town of Fuquay – Varina, North Carolina.


Accomplishments:

Dr. Wood attended the Columbus Boy Choir School (now the American Boys Choir), Princeton, New Jersey and toured with the choir; Composed music and recorded albums with the North Carolina Mass Choir; Recipient of the 1989 coveted WALJO Music Award as Musician of the Year for the States of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia; 1998 recipient of the North Carolina Divinity/Music and Arts Academy “Signature Award”.


The Pastor’s Family:

Dr. Wood is married to the former Ramona Pearson of Sanford, N. C. They are the parents of 2 daughters, Naona and Natalie. He is the son of Deacon Major Wood and Deaconess Barbara Wood who reside in Sanford, North Carolina.


Primary Purpose and Objective in Life:

To teach and preach the life, death, burial, and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. To be a living example of Jesus Christ before all mankind.
